Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga

Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)is a research-based and empirically validated clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

This class uses TCTSY methodology which is based on the central components of the hatha style of yoga from physical forms to movement. These elements are modified to maximise the experiences or empowerment and to cultivate a more positive and autonomic relationship with one’s body. This class does not have physical hands-on adjustments or the teacher does not walk around the room. The teacher is sharing the power of the class through doing the movements herself as well.

TCTSY presents various opportunities for the participants to be in charge of themselves based on a felt sense of their own body. The shift from the external to internal is essential for TCTSY, to give the participant a chance to listen to their own body and perhaps one day create a more healthy connection to it. Through interoception and the own choices of the participants during the class the aim is to restore the connection to the mind and body and to cultivate a sense of agency that is often compromised as a result of trauma.

Pure TCTSY classes vary from 15 minutes to 90 minutes depending on your needs. If you are interested please send me an email and we can go from there.

Hanna is a 300h certified Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator.

Hatha Yoga

This class is based on an ancient branch of yoga which purpose was originally (or still can be, depending on the yogi’s own individual approach) to prepare the body for meditation. In this way of practising yoga, the movement and breath, you move your body slowly through forms and perhaps use the movements and breath together. This class is instructed slowly and consciously but can be modified for a stronger or gentler approach depending on the needs of the customer. Great for someone seeking for movement, breath, feeling of the body and stress reduction.

Restorative Yoga

This class is all about slowing down and letting your body and mind to rest while awake. One friend of mine once described it: “It feels amazing to be awake and rest. Like having the positive effects of sleeping, but awake!”. In this class you will rest in passive forms supported by blocks, bolsters, pillows or blankets, whatever you have at home. The aim is to allow your body and mind to relax so the parasympathetic nervous system can kick in and start your body’s natural healing process. Great for stress reduction and when the life feels too much to handle.
